Description
It's sort of a work in progress and a preview, I suppose. This is the wireframe render of the 3D object I've been working on. I seriously wanted to pump something out with all the time Ive put into it.
I'm still learning the ins and outs of 3D in Photoshop and it's been a mind-melting ride. Now that I've got the actual form of the steampunk spider made, it will be time to apply texture soon and render it into something amazing (I'm not totally sure what that will be though).
In the sake of full disclosure, the spider is made ENTIRELY using only the 3D capabilities in Photoshop CC (and they are rather limited, I know). At this moment, there are 186 (yes, that's one hundred and eighty six) separate parts made and put together in a single 3D Layer. I've been working off and on for about 3 and a half weeks on this and the file size of the (untextured) object is 3.71 GB (one again, yes…GB !)
I may have painted myself into a corner, as it were, by getting so big and complex. I can't even be sure that a full render could be done in reasonable time (I could happily leave it on for about 4 or 5 days to see it through if it came down to it). I running a 4GB processor with 16 GB RAM and a GTX 770 Nvidia card and it STILL is slowing me down. Oh well. Go big or go home, I guess.
I hope somebody likes what little bit I've got here and maybe looking forward to what the final project could be. As much as I've been working in the 3D realm with it, this is not a fully textured and rendered piece so I've put the project in this category. When it's done, really done, I'll put that into the 3D category for Digital Art.
